Tulsa recently opened their 1st HOMEGOODS and I’m hoping it won’t be their last! My mom and I have been shopping at HomeGoods in Texas for the past 10 years so we will thrilled when this day came. I’m sure our husbands weren’t too thrilled. HomeGoods is definitely different than say a Target or Potterybarn. The inventory at HomeGoods changes frequently and has a large variety because of only getting a few of each item. So if you need multiples of something this isn’t the place to go. Or if you see something in a friend’s house you have to have, more than likely you won’t be able to find it at HomeGoods. But this is also why I love it, it makes shopping more unique to the customer.
So go in with an open mind. Like you are going on a treasure hunt for things you love! I obviously have a thing for treasure hunts, HomeGoods, antique stores, thrift stores. I love them all!
Since we have been doing this for years let me give you some tips on…
What to Buy:
Adding lamps can bring warmth to your space. At HomeGoods they have a wonderful selection of trendy lamps for affordable prices.
Plus I love that they include the shades that match! There have been plenty of times I was positive that the shade I bought was the perfect size only to find out I was wrong.
They have rows and rows of them, sorted by all different colors. This makes it a breeze for finding the ones that will work for your space. I recently picked up a gray textured one for my foyer. Remember you don’t always have to do a pattern. Play with texture to add some interest to your space.
HomeGoods has a wonderful selection of soap dispensers, tooth brush holders, and tissue box covers. And for more affordable prices, you can’t go wrong!
I also love checking out their towels and bathroom rugs. It’s an easy way to freshen up your bathroom and make it look cozy and clean. They always have classic solid colored ones or you can add a pattern for a whole new look.
Try and find rugs that are 100% cotton and washable. These will feel better underfoot and will wash up nicely.
Rugs are my ABSOLUTE favorite to look at and potentially buy, and the hardest thing for my clients to want to buy. It always baffles me. Rugs are the foundation of the room. It sets the tone for the whole design and they define the space. Plus rugs create a soft place for your family to gather and hang out. Homegoods offers a wonderful selection of large wool rugs at some of the best prices you’ll find. Even though it can be a pain, you can always take the rug home and try it in your space. If it doesn’t work, take it back.

1 Thing to Skip:
I haven’t been impressed by their wall art. Most of it comes mass produced from China. Plus they seem too small. I love oversize pieces that create a dramatic statement. Wall art is where you want to be different and unique to set your house apart. Antique stores, thrift stores, flea markets are where you want to go for one of a kind wall art! HomeGoods however has been rocking it with their mirrors. Great variety and fun new designs and mirrors make great wall art.

So there is your road-map to a successful trip to HomeGoods. Grab your friend, a coffee, and try and go during the week when it’s not so crazy. I hope to see you there!
